Hey hey hey guys, this time I will share recipes from France, namely onion soup.
Onion soup comes from France which is very famous in the world.
Reporting from "Wikipedia", Soupe à l'oignon gratinée is a type of soup made of shallots and beef broth served with croutons and cheese.
This kind of soup has been served since ancient Roman times, and was considered the food of the poor.
The modern type of soup, which started in France in the 17th century, is made with dry bread or croutons, beef stock and shallots. The cheese used is usually the gruyère type.
Let's see the recipe and how to make it.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
- 4 cups of chicken stock
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
- 1 stalk of celery, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of bread, toasted until crispy
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
How to make:
First, heat the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and stir until smooth. Cook for about 20-25 minutes or until the onions are soft and lightly browned.
Then Add the flour and stir well for about 2-3 minutes until the ingredients are evenly mixed.
And Pour the chicken stock, red wine, thyme, and celery into the pot, stir well. Let the soup simmer, then reduce heat and cook for about 30 minutes.
Then preheat the oven to 180°C. Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and bake until they are crispy in texture.
Well Serve the soup with slices of bread on top and sprinkle with grated Gruyere cheese. Bake in the oven for about 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
